What We Are Doing
You know what they say; ‘if your going to talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk’. In developing the Green Rewards Program in 2007, Club Lifestyle was faced with a number of challenges about its business model and set out to try and reform its internal and external practices to achieve a better level of environmental sustainability. This lead Club Lifestyle to form its own Green Committee and enroll in
VECCI & the
EPA’s ‘Grow Me The Money Program’ to undertake environmental reform of its practices. Within a six month period Club Lifestyle achieved a silver status in the program and had instituted a cultural change through implementing practical measures such as;
- Enhanced Recycling Structure
- Enhanced Water Saving Measures
- Revised Printing Production Practices.
- Altered lighting measures throughout the head office complex
- Staff Education on best practices
- Power Saving techniques
In addition to this Club Lifestyle implemented a strict code of practices in recruiting privilege partners to its Green Rewards Program.
Privilege Partner Criteria
Club Lifestyle has been committed to finding a fair and amicable way of assessing companies claims to being ‘green’ or ‘environmentally friendly’ to uphold the integrity of the program. The release of the ACCC’s Marketing Guide in 2008 has assisted with this process but still requires a degree of self governance to achieve some legitimate benchmarks.
That said Club Lifestyle has consulted closely with The Green Directory and has adopted their thorough assessment process to uphold the programs integrity. The assessment process stipulates that it accepts businesses who;
- Have been granted appropriate status with various accreditation bodies for environmentally preferable products as well as organic certification bodies.
- Have been passed by the Green Directory’s resident Environmental Scientist who checks company credentials including ingredient lists and MSDS’s. Each case is assessed individually and a judgement is made according to strict standards, avoiding listing companies which use “green wash” rather than moving genuinely towards environmental sustainability.
